Performance and Features
Manganese is a silver-gray metal, much like iron, but softer than iron. If manganese contains a small amount of impurities,carbon or silicon, it becomes very hard and brittle. However, pure metal manganese is not widely used, because it is easier to rust than iron. In humid air, it will become gray and lose its luster in a short time, and a layer of manganese oxide is formed on the surface.
Applications
Manganese metal is mainly used to produce additives, deoxidizers and desulfurizers for high-temperature alloys, stainless steels, non-ferrous metal alloys and low-carbon high-strength steels. Most of them are used to produce aluminum-manganese alloys, stainless steel and stainless steel electrodes.
