Silicon zirconium inoculant is a potent inoculant. It is widely used in gray iron and ductile iron due to its strong inoculation effect. It is particularly popular with experienced senior engineers. It also has the effect of neutralizing nitrogen in molten iron, so it is sometimes used to improve the nitrogen porosity in castings.
Example:
German metallurgical engineers like to use it to produce large-scale ductile iron castings, nuclear power, wind power and other castings, to increase the number of spherulitic graphite and reduce the risk of shrinkage. Otherwise it is used in some hot metal with high nitrogen content, e.g. The processing volume of universal tool castings is relatively large, silicon zirconium inoculant can shorten the length of flake graphite and improve its processing performance. In the case of using a large amount of carburant, if a nitrogen porosity appears on the bottom or end of the casting, the silicon zirconium inoculant will significantly improve the defect ratio.
Silicon Manganese Zirconium Inoculant

Silicon manganese zirconium inoculant is a special inoculant which can be dissolved at 1180-1200 degrees Celsius with a low melting point. Its melting point is lower than commonly used inoculants. The inoculation effect is medium strength, which can refine graphite and reduce the chilling tendency. Although it is better than the inoculation effect of silicon barium inoculant, its possibility of slagging is much lower than that of silicon barium inoculant. At present, it is mainly used in the production of cylinder blocks and cylinder heads for engines of automobiles or trucks, which can reduce processing defects such as cinder inclusion or microscopic shrinkage. European engineers like to use SiMnZr inoculant to produce cylinder blocks and cylinder head castings.

Ferro silicon strontium inoculant can refine the grain, but it does not increase the number of eutectic cell, which makes it the same as SiMnZr inoculant that can reduce the risk of micro shrinkage, just the principle is different. It is often used to produce cylinder blocks and cylinder head castings for engines of automobiles and trucks. When producing nodular cast iron castings, it can be used to increase the number of graphite spheres and increase ferrite. When the molten iron is extremely low before treatment (less than 0.008%), the effect is more obvious.
